Summer Biking Running

On May 3rd, 2015, we hosted the second annual Lost Sole Duathlon, which featured both trail running as well as mountain biking on the trail network.  This built on the success of the inaugural Lost Sole Duathlon, held in 2014 in spectacularly snowy and muddy conditions.
June 20th, 2015 saw the official opening of the trail system for mountain biking.  While the trails are very much a work in progress, it was felt that it was better to get folks out enjoying what trails already exist, rather than making everyone wait until the system was complete.
On July 18th, 2015, Get Outdoors Parry Sound hosted the inaugural Summer Sounder Mountain Bike Race, presented by Parry Sound Bikes.  With a short race for kids, plus longer, more challenging races for adults (featuring the XTERRA bike loop), there was something for everyone to explore and enjoy.  The race is intended as a casual, bare-bones, no frills event, but race entry included a free BBQ afterwards at Parry Sound Bikes, sponsored by Orr's Meats and Deli.  A number of XTERRA athletes, keen to pre-ride the race course for the following weekend, were in attendance.
The big event of the summer was undoubtedly the debut of off-road triathlon in the region, when XTERRA Parry Sound came to town on July 25th.      This race featured racers from across Ontario as well the rest of Canada and parts of the US, competing for coveted qualification slots to the World Championships in Maui.  The swim was held at nearby Nine Mile Lake Park, while the MTB and trail racing sections were located on the Georgian Nordic trail network.
